David also oversees the Infrastructure Australia Assessment Framework, which provides best practice, fit-for-purpose guidance on the preparation and evaluation of infrastructure proposals, and led it’s major refresh, which was published in July 2021. He joined Infrastructure Australia in January 2018 after over 16 years with some of Australia’s top-tier consulting firms.

His technical experience includes planning, design and evaluation across multiple industry sectors and covering each stage of the project lifecycle. David is on the Infrastructure Australia executive team, is a member of the Reconciliation Action Plan working group, and is active in collaborations with stakeholders from across the country and overseas.

What you’ll learn:

  • About Infrastructure Australia

  • How has the Infrastructure Australia Assessment Framework evolved?

  • How is Infrastructure Australia involved in the ITLS board and why is it important?

Quotes:

“My passion is about making good decisions. Quite simply, the right structure at the right place at the right time with the lens of getting the most value out of our taxpayer dollars.”

“It's a continuous improvement piece for us where we constantly want to recognize what good practice or best practice looks like.”

"The board of advice is about bringing industry and government into the academic ecosystem. It's about sharing knowledge, gaining knowledge, and building networks."

“I think there is really great will by governments to invest in infrastructure to stimulate the economy, but that's then put pressure on us to be able to deliver. So there is absolutely a challenge for us to ensure that we're geared up to deliver, and that's a long-term game in terms of education to bring people into the sector from an early age."
